As I was trying to find information about HBO Max which launched in the USA a few days ago, I wanted to know whether it was also officially available in Canada. The answer is, it is. Well, sort of. Here is what I gleaned from recent googling...
HBO Max, per se, is not available in Canada, but much of the original content from the U.S. paid service will be available through Bell's Crave service. Read more about it here:

So, HBO Max is not really an official standalone service in Canada, but it's parent company in the States, AT&T, who also owns the DirecTV satellite TV service, is doubling down on its expectations for success despite DirecTV bleeding customers during the Coronavirus Pandemic. AT&T is really hoping that customers ditching the high cost of cable (and satellite) TV will downgrade over to its new streaming service instead of abandoning them altogether. HBO Max is but one of hundreds of streaming services competing for the attention of the ever-growing crowd of cable cord-cutters, and it needs to win big. Will HBO Max succeed? I would be interested to read your comments and predictions. -GB.
