The Roku Streambar is an affordable way for consumers to upgrade and de-clutter their entertainment setup at home.

Hear every detail as you stream in vibrant 4K HDR picture quality on compatible TVs. With its compact acoustic design and powerful signal processing, its center drivers deliver crisp, clean audio that makes dialogue easier to hear while its angled side drivers fill the room with sound. The Roku Streambar can also quiet loud commercials automatically. Control the Roku Streambar by speaking to Amazon Alexa and/or Google Assistant devices, plus, consumers can expect to stream videos, music and more with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit by the end of the year. Setup is simple with everything in the box, including a voice remote that controls your TV power, sound, and streaming.

Features include:

  • Brilliant 4K picture: Stream movies and TV in HD, 4K, and 4K HDR picture quality.
  • Big sound: Four 1.9” full range drivers fill the room with rich Dolby Audio.

Law&Crime is the only network offering coverage of multiple trials daily plus original legal and true crime programs like “Brian Ross Investigates” hosted by former ABC Chief Investigative Correspondent, Brian Ross, “Vanished”, “Buried with Love" and the network's new daily legal wrap show "Law & Crime Daily".

Law&Crime boasts a recent and impressive lineup of high-profile trial coverage, including the recent sentencing hearing of Joseph James DeAngelo, known as the “Golden State Killer,” and the resentencing hearing for Scott Peterson, who was convicted in 2002 for the murder of his wife Laci and unborn son.  Also upcoming is the trial of the infamous “doomsday cult family” led by matriarch Lori Daybell and her new husband Chad Daybell who are likely to face a combined trial in rural Idaho for allegedly working together to hide the remains of her children’s bodies from authorities.

RiverTV - Live TV and on demand. Stream on.

Editor's Note: It's about time Canadians get a streaming rival to the big cable companies here in this country. RiverTV is a great budget-friendly cable-TV alternative if you still want all of your favorite channels without the big bill. The big selling point for me about RiverTV is the 3-day to 7-day 'look back' feature on most channels; I've found myself catching up on some of my favorite supernatural shows from the T+E channel. Global TV and CHCH are Canadian staples, so Canadians will still be able to get their national news and information, and there's plenty of episodes available on-demand from most of the channels carried by RiverTV. I am still waiting for more channels from the entertainment groups that licenses their networks to this platform, plus a carriage agreement from CBC could really make RiverTV a top-notch streaming service for Canadian cord-cutters looking to stream their favorite cable channels on a budget. Overall though, it's worth exploring RiverTV with a 7-day trial, you might find it surprisingly good. I give RiverTV a B+ review. -GB.

###

Global TV
Developed by: Corus Entertainment

One App's Got It All. The Global TV App is now home to some of the most watched networks in Canada: Global, Food Network, HGTV, W Network, Slice, Showcase, History, Adult Swim and National Geographic!

Full episodes of Global shows are available on demand for the first 7 days after they air on TV.

Now with an expanded Global News offering – giving you unlocked 24/7 access to local and national news streams across Canada.

Plus watch the biggest shows from Food Network, HGTV, W Network, Slice, Showcase, History, Adult Swim and National Geographic. All you have to do is sign in with your TV provider to watch.

Highlights of the Global TV app include:
• Full-length episodes
• Unlocked 24/7 access to local and national news from across Canada.
• Live streams of your favourite TV channels*
• Binge your favourite shows from the beginning*

*TV Service Provider Sign In required.

Episodes are added daily, and new shows are added all the time!

Editor's Note: The description says it all. The only drawback is that RiverTV does not yet have access to unlocking content using a subscription login. However, for completely free access to Global News 24/7 and free access to episodes for the first 7 days after they air on TV, I give Global TV a A- review. -GB

###

The Roku Channel
Developed by: Roku

The Roku Channel is your home for free TV. Watch an ever-changing selection of hit movies, TV shows, 24/7 live news (in U.S. and Canada only) and popular kids’ entertainment —all totally free. Choose from thousands of entertainment options on-demand, with no subscriptions, purchases or rentals required. The Roku Channel is also the portal for great free 24/7 live TV with the following channels:

Editor's Note: The Roku Channel is very good, but it could be so much greater considering it's twin across the border in the U.S. is a lot more full-featured than it is here in Canada. There are only 15 channels in the current Live TV lineup on the Roku Channel in Canada (compared to over 40 PLUS a live cable-box-like TV screen guide for the U.S. version), but it's still a great must-have app to install on any Roku device. Thank goodness for a great selection of classic library movies and TV series available on-demand that fill the gap for the lack of live channels. C- overall. -GB
