NOST The Nostalgia Network Streaming Soon, Available In Canada

On Wednesday, Classic Reruns TV announced via their Facebook page that their network will be rebranding as NOST: The Nostalgia Network. The social media post read: 

"Breaking TV News! On Monday, April 3rd Classic Reruns TV becomes NOST: The Nostalgia Network. Time-honored feature films, all the time. And a few snazzy sitcoms in the mix for good measure. You should tell everybody."

The announcement was accompanied with a 45-second trailer, which is now posted on the YouTube channel for StreamOnABudget:

Here are the highlights of what's expected to be airing during NOST TV's first week of broadcast in April:

It was also announced on Tuesday via Facebook that the very popular Indie hosted horror show, Lord Blood-rah's Nerve Wrackin' Theater, will air on Saturday nights on the network, competing directly against another major hosted horror movie show on another OTA network.

It is expected that NOST TV will stream worldwide, as does its Classic Reruns TV network, and that it will be a mere rebranding of the network on all of it's over-the-air affiliates in the US and streaming services worldwide. 

Nostalgia themed networks have become very popular with recent cord-cutters, so this rebranding feels like the right, natural transition to make for this network. Classic Reruns TV is the most popular channel streaming currently on our own StreamOnABudget Showcase FREE channel on Roku and there is no doubt that NOST TV will be even more popular and a natural fit for the platform.

All of these networks announced by Frndly in the last couple of days are very popular Over-The-Air TV channels in the US. These along with several other popular OTA networks such as MeTV, FETV, and even some terrific Cable-TV networks such as A&E, History TV and others, can now be viewed in Canada-- LEGALLY!

PASADENA, CA – January 10, 2023 – AMC Networks announced today premiere timing for four series in The Walking Dead Universe, along with a first look at Fear the Walking Dead’s eighth and final season. Fear will roll out in two six-episode parts, the first of which begins Sunday, May 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and AMC+ and return for its final six episodes later this year. New spin-off series The Walking Dead: Dead City, starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will premiere in June followed by The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, led by Norman Reedus, later this year. Additionally, the spin-off starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as beloved TWD characters Rick Grimes and Michonne, will go into production this year and premiere in 2024.

The eighth season of Fear begins after the conclusion of Season 7, when Morgan’s (Lennie James) and Madison’s (Kim Dickens) hopes to rescue Mo from PADRE did not go as planned. Now, Morgan, Madison and the others they brought to the island are living under PADRE’s cynical rule. With our characters demoralized and dejected, the task of reigniting belief in a better world rests with the person Morgan and Madison set out to rescue in the first place — Morgan’s daughter, Mo.  Fear the Walking Dead stars James, Dickens, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Austin Amelio, Christine Evangelista, Karen David, Jenna Elfman and Rubén Blades. It is executive produced by Gimple, Showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, Michael Satrazemis and David Alpert and is produced by AMC Studios.

The Walking Dead: Dead City follows Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. In addition to Cohan and Morgan, the series stars Gaius Charles, Zeljko Ivanek, Karina Ortiz, Jonathan Higginbotham and Mahina Napoleon with Gimple, Showrunner Eli Jorné, Cohan, Morgan and Brian Bockrath as executive producers.

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan. The series stars Reedus, Clémence Poésy and Adam Nagaitisand is executive produced by Gimple, Showrunner David Zabel, Reedus, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath and Daniel Percival.

Lincoln and Gurira reunite for a new spinoff series that will finally continue the journey of Rick Grimes and Michonne characters. This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead? Gimple serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Lincoln and Gurira.

Get All The Cable TV You Need In Canada For Less Than $35.00 Per month Using Bell Fibe And River TV

Unless you are a mega-sports fan or cannot do without DVR for playing back archived episodes of your favorite shows, you really don't need to pay hundreds for an overloaded cable TV package. Honestly, a robust internet service (something that provides unlimited bandwidth) and just a couple of good streaming TV service are all you need, all at a budget price you can live with. Here are just two of what I use for paid streaming, and it's all under $35.00 per month.

Internet service is not included here, only paid TV plans, but there's no reason to spend any more than $75 to $100 per month for unlimited high speed internet. Of course there are cheaper internet plans out there, but any plan that doesn't offer data caps is recommended since streaming can take up an extremely large amount of bandwidth.

Oh, and another note about streaming TV: What I am about to present to you does not include anything like pro sports channels nor DVR service, cloud DVR, or anything that "records" shows for playback later. Generally, most current shows (and some classic series) are available via the On-Demand services, so you shouldn't miss any of your favorite shows. In many cases, channels also include a "Look Back" option where you can watch a program from a network archived up to three days (some times a week) from when it was scheduled. If you need to have pro-sports like NHL hockey or NFL football, there are separate premium TV addons available for those, but they won't be covered in this article.
