Open up Paramount+ on any of your favorite streaming devices in Canada and you will now see a selection of about 44 movies in a new category. No Paramount+ Original Movies yet like Infinite starring Mark Walberg, but that is coming very soon (August 11 according to this news source here).
Unfortunately, the addition of a new Movies category did not just add to the library of Paramount programming on the platform. Along with the additions saw a bunch of legacy series and nearly all the throwback classic shows removed from the TV line-up. If you were in the middle of a Survivor binge, it's gone; and so is Happy Days, Hawaii Five-O, Gunsmoke and all the other classic series. (Wishful thinking dictates that this loss is only temporary and ViacomCBS is realigning their content licensing.)
It's great to see Paramount+ expanding it's content base outside of the US, but still no Star Trek to be heard of here in Canada (including the reboot movies), that content is still licensed to Bell Media for their Crave streaming platform, and the loss of great series and retro sitcoms is quite disappointing. For many, that's just a big ol' deal breaker.
