Fubo TV Rebrands, Add New Channels, And Expands Beyond Sports With Family Entertainment Networks in Canada

Fubo is not just about sports: One of the nation's premier streaming service also boasts dozens of premium TV entertainment networks and linear streaming channels for the entire family, movie buffs and sports fanatics.

The last twelve months have been huge for the sports-centric streaming service Fubo TV in Canada. Back in March, Fubo reported over a quarter of a million new subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2022 and was awarded #1 ranking in Customer Satisfaction among Live TV Streaming Providers by J.D. Power. As a result of its commitment to delivering a premium customer experience, Fubo also dropped the "TV" part of its moniker as a rebranding effort.

According to David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of Fubo, "FuboTV has grown in size and scope, with multiple brands under our global umbrella since we launched our core cable TV replacement product in 2015. Alongside our continued growth, our consumers have affectionately shortened our name to Fubo and we feel that name represents the premium media brand we are today," Gandler said in a press release at the time. "We’re building on this momentum with an updated visual identity."

And, about this time last year, Canada's Corus Entertainment partnered with Fubo to provide its suite of channels it originally launched in 2019 on Prime Video Channels in Canada, STACKTV.

"STACKTV's leading lifestyle and entertainment content bolsters FuboTV's growing portfolio, creating a true cable TV replacement package," said Mihir Shah, Senior Director, Content Strategy and Acquisition, FuboTV, in a recent press release about the partnership. "Our mission is to offer Canadian consumers a diverse range of news, entertainment, and sports programming, with something for everyone in the family."

STACKTV is a portal to hit TV, streaming an exclusive library of scripted and unscripted series and news programs from 13 of Canada's favourite networks including Global, HGTV Canada, Food Network Canada, W Network, Showcase, Slice, Adult Swim, National Geographic, Lifetime, The HISTORY® Channel, TELETOON, Treehouse and YTV. All of the STACKTV networks are streaming among 60 other Sports and Entertainment channels in Fubo Canada's Premium Package, right now as low as CA$31.67/m (when paid annually). Alongside the dozens of premium television entertainment and sports channels, Fubo has also recently added streaming channels from Trusted Media Brands (also known as TMB) and Esports Entertainment Group. Available in all of Fubo's packages, you'll find the following channels in the Just Added section of the on-screen Guide:
  • People Are Awesome features fitness content, amazing stunts, athlete documentaries and travel docu-series.
  • The Pet Collective offers pet videos, news products and more.
  • Weatherspy: Weather is an adventure, from unpredictable climates and unbelievable natural landscapes to exhilarating adventure sports and extreme outdoor jobs.
Over the past year, TMB’s channels have witnessed a combined viewership of more than nine billion minutes of watch time and a loyal following of over 250 million followers across social media.

An additional streaming network, one dedicated to all things eSports, ESTV, is also featured in the Just Added category. ESTV is the world’s first 24/7 live linear and AVOD esports channel with content including ESTV, Racing, College and High School esports. Watch live esports events, tournaments, interact with your favorite gamer and celebrities, and discover your favorite gamer’s lifestyle.

Even though the Canadian version of Fubo lacks all of the major pro-sports programming of their US counterpart, except one, Major League Baseball, fans of soccer will absolutely love the wall to wall coverage of all the major world soccer events. A-Z Channels Are Coming Soon to the StreamOnABudget Showcase FREE app on Roku!

The impressive line-up of FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) channels from the independent production, distribution, and licensing company Echelon Studios is coming soon to the StreamOnABudget Showcase FREE app on Roku.

Following the successful launch of several FAST channels under the "a-z" brand in 2020, Echelon Studios has now added to its diverse library, with a growing lineup of 19 FAST channels spanning all things A-Z: from award-winning shows to vibrant independent films.

The StreamOnABudget Showcase Project, solely operated by vintage media hobbyist, Georges Brunet, has received delivery of all 19 networks to be added to his StreamOnABudget Showcase FREE channel on Roku in the coming weeks. It will take weeks into the Summer leading into the Fall for all of the networks to be uploaded and curated into the app, a passion project for the independent Roku app developer.
